ORD-REST is a community based group committed to raising awareness and finding solutions to the troubling effects of increased noise and environmental pollution resulting from the new runways of the O’Hare Modernization Program.  Comprised of residents in areas most closely bordering the airport, we are headquartered in Park Ridge, IL.  Current members reside in Chicago’s Edison Park community, Des Plaines, Park Ridge and other surrounding communities and we encourage membership from throughout Chicagoland and the nation.

A diverse group, we are energized by our collective commitment to sustaining healthy and happy neighborhoods.  We are horrified by increased air traffic, coming in low and loudly over our heads.  We are worried and anxious for the effect this is having on our children, in their schools and in their homes.   We are uneasy about the effect on our environment; our backyards taking on new smells and colors and our forest preserves suffering the same.  We are uncertain of our future – at a time when uncertainty reigns supreme in our national economic mindset.  We are afraid that the effects of these new runways require us to make sacrifices well beyond what any community should be expected to endure.

We are pursuing reasonable, actionable changes in current environmental and legislative standards which govern air traffic growth and development.  We believe that current standards and current communication are flawed, suffering from lack of oversight and needing contemporary application of both science and law.

We believe we have a social and fiscal responsibility to drive public and government accountability to a new level for our region and for this cause.  Our quality of life depends on a new accountability.  Absent of a new accountability, we risk imposing an appalling indignity on our everyday individual rights.

We ask you to join us in our mission.
